Last week, former programmers of «Epicenter» told about the fact that the retail network has not paid its salary debts for more than a month. In an official comment, «Epicentr» replied that it paid for all the work performed, meanwhile, the contractors who cooperated with the company as an FOP «did not perform the full scope of the work» stipulated by the contracts.

What's wrong with «Epicenter K»

The programmers who reported salary arrears worked at «Epicenter M» - this is a separate legal entity that is part of the structure of «Epicenter» and is engaged in the development and development of the marketplace. At first everything was fine with the company, but in November 2021 the team was suddenly informed that most of it (the entire product development team) would be moved from «Epicenter M» to «Epicenter K».

«During the meetings with the management of «Epicenter K», which were held several times for the entire marketplace team, it was completely unclear what would happen to the functionality that we had been developing all this time. What will the new united team do in general. All the answers to our questions were either in very vague wording, which can be interpreted in any way. No specifics,» says backend developer Vladyslav Pozdnyakov.

According to Vlad, who has worked at «Epicenter M» since March 2020 (practically from the very beginning of work on the marketplace), at these meetings, the difference in corporate culture between the marketplace and the parent company immediately became obvious to the developers. If «Epicenter M» was a comfortable place of work for IT specialists with efficiently built processes and modern approaches to management, then «Epicenter K» developers describe as a «Soviet» style structure with management approaches in the style of «I'm the boss, you - no one», where the team does not fully understand where it is going.

Most quit immediately, some decided to try to work under the management of «Epicenter K», but soon quit as well. As a result, several people remained from the marketplace team at «Epicenter K».

  • At the same time, the company emphasized that it will abandon the new mode of operation only if the developers themselves do not need it. But so far, the majority of the team likes this idea.
  • This innovation does not affect the terms of annual vacations, all public holidays also remain for the team on weekends.
