Omio is an international platform for searching, comparing, and booking trips by train, bus, plane, and ferry. Omio Corp. is incorporated in the state of Delaware, USA, and its operational office is in Berlin. The mobile app is the traveler's main tool on the go: it is where people search for routes, buy tickets, and keep them on their smartphones.

Challenges

An international trip often means several modes of transportation, different carriers, and confusing fares. The task was to turn this complex search into a simple smartphone flow: from choosing a destination to a ready e-ticket, all in one app.

The app's users are independent travelers and tourists, regular intercity commuters, and people choosing between train, bus, plane, and ferry based on price, travel time, and number of connections.

Solution

Search on a single screen. Origin, destination, date, return trip, number of passengers, and discount card are all on the start screen, together with an entry point to special offers.
Comparing transportation in the results. Results switch between trains, buses, planes, and ferries; each route card shows the price, duration, connections, and carrier at a glance. Filters and sorting by departure time, price, and connections help narrow the choice quickly.
Transparent fares. On the selected route screen, users see the available classes, fare conditions, included options, and the final price before checkout.
E-tickets and customer account. Tickets are stored in the app and available offline, and trip details can be shared with another user. The profile holds bookings, currency selection, notifications, and support.
Offers and web version. We added the Omio Savings Pass, a referral mechanism, and curated accommodation at the destination, and complemented the mobile experience with a web platform featuring global ticket search, a route map, and booking.

Results

Trains, buses, planes, and ferries are compared in a single results list by price, travel time, carrier, and number of connections.
The path from choosing a destination to an e-ticket happens in one app.
Fare classes and conditions are visible before payment.
E-tickets are stored on the smartphone, and trips can be shared with fellow travelers.
